About Gorse Workwear

Our Story

Gorse was born from experience, not from a business plan.

Before construction, I served as a Royal Marine Commando. Today I specialise in rope access, working at height and in confined spaces — environments where your equipment is tested every single day. Over the years I became frustrated with work trousers that wore through too quickly, restricted movement, or simply weren't designed for the realities of working outdoors in the British weather.

I knew there had to be a better solution.

The name Gorse comes from my time training as a Royal Marine on Dartmoor and Woodbury Common. Anyone who has trained there knows how unforgiving the terrain can be. After long days carrying heavy kit and crawling across the moor, we'd spend the evenings pulling gorse spikes from our arms and legs.

At the time, it was the plant everyone hated.

Looking back, though, I realised there was something worth admiring about it. Gorse thrives where many other plants struggle to survive. Exposed to relentless wind, rain and poor ground, it continues to grow year after year.

That resilience became the inspiration for this brand.

Gorse represents toughness, endurance and reliability — qualities every piece of workwear should have. Every product we create is shaped by real experience in demanding environments, built for people who expect their equipment to perform day after day.

Because when your livelihood depends on what you wear, "good enough" simply isn't good enough.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: build workwear that lasts longer, performs better, and leaves a smaller footprint.

Modern workwear often forces a compromise. You either get durability at the expense of comfort, or comfort at the expense of longevity. And too many garments rely on synthetic fibres that shed microplastics, depend on petroleum, and ultimately end up in landfill.

We believe there's a better way.

That's why hemp sits at the core of our flagship trouser. Hemp is one of nature's toughest fibres — producing fabric up to five times more durable than traditional cotton canvas — yet it remains naturally breathable and comfortable throughout long, demanding days.

It's also one of the most sustainable fibres available. Hemp requires significantly less water than conventional cotton, grows with fewer agricultural inputs, and is fully biodegradable at the end of its life. Unlike synthetic fabrics, it doesn't rely on fossil fuels or leave plastic fibres against your skin.
